Installing PC Ultima Decking 5/4 planks

Stairs Joist and Stringers - Maximum spacing for all types of decks is 12” on-center. At least one stringer in middle of stairs for support.

Hidden Deck Clip Fastener Premium Composites' hidden deck clip system offers consistent spacing, faster installation, and a clean professional look over traditional fastening methods. Our system uses high quality stainless #1 square drive screws for corrosion resistance. (Patent pending)

• Fasten 3/4” from the outside edge of each plank using two screws per joist. Fasten the plank using our Hidden Deck Clip Fastener (see right). Fasten deck board with two screws to control expansion and contraction direction.
  
  
• Planks NOT using Deck Clips should be gapped a minimum of 1/8” from side to side. All butt joints need to be hard fastened with screws to keep from separating. Recommend double stringers. All posts need to gap a minimum of 1/8” from all sides.
  
  
• PC Ultima Decking has two finished sides, milled and embossed. You choose which side you prefer and face that side up. This allows the contractor to stock two different styles with one deck plank. Milled surface is directional in manner.
  
  
• If required, cut last deck board to fit. Standard wood working tools may be used per manufacturer’s instructions. Always use the proper safety equipment and clothing when working with any material.
  
  
• Recommended Fasteners - Use a minimum of #8 x 2 1/2” stainless steel screws with pre-drilled holes for best results and finish when not using the hidden deck clip fastener.
  
  
• Always check local building codes prior to installation for special conditions in your area. May require an engineering inspection.

Other Installation Considerations

• Store on flat surface and cover with non-translucent material. Carry planks on edge for better support.
  
  
• Scrap can be discarded with construction debris.
  
  
• Planks require a minimum of 12” of unobstructed airspace along three sides of deck.
  
  
• PC Ultima Decking is not intended for use as columns, beams, joists, stringer or other load bearing members.
  
  
• PC Ultima Decking exceeds all American with Disabilities Act standards for slip resistant walking surfaces, wet or dry. Available in 10’, 12’ and 16’ length. Color choices are PC Ultima Grey, Redwood and Cedar.
